Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my blog! If you're reading this, you probably know that I'm currently a third year medical student at the University of Virginia. I hope to use this blog to communicate my experiences as I spend the next year (beginning in July/August) as one of the 2006 Fogarty-Ellison Fellows in Global Health and Clinical Research. What exactly is a Fogarty Fellow you might ask? I'll soon be posting more about what I'll be doing for the next year, but for now, check out the Fogarty program webpage. Where am I going to spend the next year as a Fogarty Fellow? I have the privilege of spending the next year in Fortaleza, Brazil, a city in northeastern Brazil. See the map below:

For the remainder of the week, I'll have to quickly get over the excitement of my selection as a Fogarty fellow, as I will be taking my final exam in pediatrics on Friday. After that, I'll be on spring break for a week, during which time I hope to post more about what I'll be doing for the next year.
